Moeldoko Ensures The Govt To Take Actions Against Companies That Don't Pay Holiday Bonuses

Media Magelang - Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko assured goverment will take action if they find companies that don't pay holiday bonuses for workers.

As all knew that Indonesian workers took to the street to celebrate Labor Day or Mayday in Indonesia last few days.

The government always called on protesters to be disciplined in maintaining health protocols aimed at containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko assured that the Joko Widodo administration always pays attention to workers' welfare in the implementation of the much-debated Law on Job Creation (UU Cipta Kerja) regarding the payment of holiday bonus (Tunjangan Hari Raya/THR).

Moeldoko met with representatives of Indonesia's two largest labor organizations: Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) and All-Indonesia Workers Union Confederation (KSPSI).

"Both(sectoral wage and holiday bonus) are the main focuses that I will submit it to Minister of Manpower," Moeldoko stated as cited from Antaranews.

Moeldoko added that the government will take firm action against companies that do not pay holiday bonuses to their workers.

Therefore, the former army chief of staff stated his side would monitor the implementation of UU Cipta Kerja and its derivatives.

He also appreciated KSPSI and KSPI which decided not to take part in mass demonstrations on Mayday as an effort to implement health protocols aimed at preventing the widespread of coronavirus.

"This is the best way of Mayday celebration. I appreciated laborers' responsibility and empathy," he stated.

Mass demonstrations demanded the annulment of UU Ciptakerja-which is considered pro-investors.

More than 6,000 personnel of military and police had been deployed to secure Jakarta during the Mayday protest.

The demonstration involved 50,000 labors in 24 provinces and 3,000 factories.

Last but not least, Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko has promises that workers will have their holiday bonus.  ***
